Background:
Securing the Cloud for a Fortune 500 Manufacturer
Background:
A large, Fortune 500 manufacturer was facing a critical security challenge as various application owners had moved workloads into AWS without fully considering the associated security risks. While the shift to the cloud offered
flexibility and scalability, it also introduced unintended vulnerabilities—specifically, unknown backdoors into the company’s infrastructure that went undetected. These overlooked access points exposed the organization to potential threats, including unauthorized access and data leakage, putting sensitive operational and intellectual property at risk.
Solution:
To address the security gaps, KNZ Solutions was engaged to perform a comprehensive network assessment of the manufacturer’s cloud infrastructure, with a focus on identifying hidden backdoors and enhancing visibility for the client’s information security team.
KNZ redesigned the cloud architecture to route all inbound and outbound traffic through a trusted Palo Alto Networks firewall, ensuring full control over data flow. The updated design also integrated virtual firewalls with the client’s on prem Panorama system, providing centralized visibility, real-time alerting, and policy enforcement.
Outcome:
KNZ’s strategic approach significantly improved the organization’s cloud security posture and empowered the infosec team with the insights needed to proactively manage risk.
